BARF has over time evolved to mean different things to pet parents and supporters of real food. Originally referred to as “Bones and Raw Food“, nowadays, it is more commonly used as an acronym for “biologically appropriate raw (or real) food”. Also a registered trademark in the United States, the concept simply define returning the current concept of food for cats and dogs back to their evolutionary needs. We prefer the concept of “biologically, species appropriate, real and raw food” ourselves. Whereas PMR do not include plant ingredients, BARF diets do. For us, both philosophies work, as it is all about real food in the end.
