What is Dog?

What is Dog?

Dogs are common four-legged animals, having prominent canine teeth, and in the wild state, a long and slender muzzle, a deep-chested muscular body, a bushy tail, and large, erect ears. Dogs are often kept by pet parents and guardians as companions, to guard or to hunt. The saying goes that “man is dog’s best friend“, and dogs truly do not care if the earth is round or flat, as long as there is space to run. Ogden Nash wrote:

The truth I do not stretch or shove
When I state that the dog is full of love.
I’ve also found, by actual test,
A wet dogs is the lovingest.

Dogs have many different synonyms, such as hound, canine, bitch, puppy, canis familiaris, canis lupus, domesticated carnivorous mammal, family Canidae, mongrel, mutt, pooch, cur, brak, with cousins such as the wolf and fox. We prefer to call them mutts, pups and nobles. We subscribe to the notion that dogs are facultative carnivores.
