What is an Essential fatty acid?

Essential Fatty Acids [EFA] are Essential nutrients that your body cannot make, so they must be obtained from food (dietary fatty acids). They perform various functions in the body, not limited to energy production, brain function, skin, hair, nails, cardiovascular health, insulin function, weight management, digestion, allergies, inflammation, immune system, injuries, bone minerals, stress, hormones and reproduction (see: Wikipedia).
