What is Hyperglycemia?

Hyperglycemia, not to be confused with the opposite disorder (involving low blood sugar), hypoglycemia, is a condition in which an excessive amount of glucose circulates in the blood plasma, in other words, high blood sugar (see: Wikipedia). The condition occurs when the body does not have enough insulin or cannot use the insulin it has to turn glucose into energy.
