What is a Pathogen?

A pathogen, in biology, is anything that can produce disease. Generally, a pathogen can be referred to as an infectious agent, or simply a germ. Consequently, the term is used to describe bugs such as a virus, bacteria, protozoan, prion, viroid, or fungus (see: Wikipedia).
